Ayo Adebanjo, the acting leader of Afenifere has disclosed that he warned Pa Reuben Fasoranti, former leader of the group not to endorse All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Tuesday, Adebanjo said he had foresaw that Tinubu had been planning to split the group.
Tinubu recently received the blessing of the Leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, who had resigned as the President of the apex Yoruba sociopolitical organisation.
Tinubu received the blessing on Sunday at the country home of Pa Fasoranti.
The blessing was coming weeks after the acting leader of the group, Ayo Adebanjo and the leadership of the group had endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
“As a matter of fact, I don’t want to be brought into the controversy,” Pa Adebanjo said.
“I know about the controversy a month ago, that they want to split Afenifere, which they have been trying to do over the years.
“When they come for you to bless them, just say Afenifere has taken its stance. Don’t get yourself involved in the mess.
“It is the intention of those who went there to cause confusion within the group, by going to meet a leader who resigned two years ago,” he stated.
